His ideas were so profound 그의 생각들은 정말 엄청났습니다 that people mistook 실수 him for a god as rumors spread over the centuries.

The book of John takes time to list seven specific miracles that point to Christ's deity.

  1. Water to Wine: John 2:1-12
  2. Healing a Boy's Fever: John 4:46-54
  3. The Healing at Bethesda: John 5:1-17
  4. Feeding the 5,000: John 6:1-15
  5. Walking on the Water: John 6:16-21
  6. Healing the Blind Man: John 9:1-7
  7. Raising the Dead: John 11:38-44

John's gospel answers the objection that Jesus was a good man or that he was a great prophet but not God. John's record starts with things that might be easy to achieve, like water to wine. Then he moves to things that must be supernatural like resurrection from the dead. That final miracle is important for us, because we believe that he will resurrect us in the Day of the Lord. John's record of these miracles proves he is not just a normal human being or great teacher. He is God, not a lesser being.

John 5:18 This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

The Jews didn't think that he was saying he was a child of God like we are. They knew he was claiming deity. The Jehovah's Witnesses claim God created Christ. That he was the first creation and powerful, but not actually God. But this passage shows that Christ's claim was not taken that way. But did Jesus think that he had been misunderstood?

John 8:52-58 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

Jesus did not think he was misunderstood when he claimed to be God. He claims to be self-existent. Hebrews 1 settles this fact beyond any doubt. Here God makes it clear that his son is not an angel, and refers to Christ as God.

Hebrews 1:7 But of the Son he says,“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

God would have been committing idolatry if he made this statement to any being who was not God. Consider that if Christ was just human, or a created being of great power, he could not be good because he would be a liar. Would I be a good teacher if I lied to you all the time? But Paul writing to Timothy summarizes it one more time for us.

1 Timothy 3:16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

Scripture claims that God himself was incarnate as Christ. Not just a man, not an angel, not a created god, but the eternal, self-existent God of the universe.

That's why I believe that he was God the Son.
